Rescue teams are currently scouring the rubble for survivors in both the capital and nearby Baharestan county following the heavy raids in the early hours of Monday morning.
In one of the deadliest incidents of the day, 13 people lost their lives in Baharestan county, located within the broader Tehran province. Local officials confirmed that the fatalities occurred when air strikes targeted two residential units in the town of Qaleh Mir.
The governor of the district stated that emergency services remain at the scene, with heavy machinery deployed to remove debris and search for any individuals who may still be trapped beneath the wreckage of the destroyed homes.
The capital itself also came under intense fire, with at least four deaths and seven injuries reported in eastern Tehran. The strikes caused the total collapse of three buildings and inflicted significant damage on approximately 50 nearby residences, according to local reports.
Just hours before these residential areas were hit, the Sharif University of Technology was also reportedly targeted in a separate wave of attacks. While Iranian air defence systems were seen being activated across the skyline throughout the night, authorities have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the full extent of the damage to the city’s infrastructure.
