Nvidia launches alliance to strengthen AI security

Nvidia has announced a new industry alliance aimed at improving the security and responsible use of artificial intelligence by developing and sharing open-source tools designed to strengthen cyber defenses.
The US chipmaker said the newly formed Open Secure AI Alliance (OSAIA) will focus on identifying, addressing and disclosing security vulnerabilities through open technologies while promoting greater trust in AI systems.
According to Nvidia, the initiative comes as recent cybersecurity incidents have highlighted the growing need for organizations to deploy transparent and advanced AI tools within their own infrastructure. The company pointed to the recent security breach involving Hugging Face as an example of why stronger, open AI security solutions are needed.
Nvidia said the alliance's primary goal is to ensure that cybersecurity professionals around the world have access to advanced, open tools that they can trust, inspect and control to better defend against emerging threats.
The alliance brings together organizations from sectors including cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise software, open-source development and AI research. Founding members include Adobe, Cisco, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Dell Technologies, Hugging Face, IBM, Microsoft, Palantir, Palo Alto Networks, Red Hat, Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Siemens and several other technology companies and research organizations.
Notably absent from the list of founding partners are some of the AI industry's biggest players, including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, despite their prominent roles in the development of generative AI technologies.
The launch reflects a broader push across the technology industry to improve AI security and transparency as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into critical infrastructure, enterprise software and cybersecurity operations.
